About The Teacher
I am delighted we are working together this year! I have been working in the Santa Barbara School District since 1993, teaching English and History at the junior high level as well as serving as a school administrator. I've taught all different levels at the junior high and love working with kids! I have been married 13 years to Mr. Stevens (who teaches Algebra at La Colina) and we have three terrific kids-- Kendall, Jack, and Emmy. My family has many members who are teachers, and we strongly feel education is very important. I'm really looking forward to working with you and know we'll have a great year!

Mission
My goal is to help our students be as successful as possible. I believe we (teacher, student, parents) work together as a team. I try to be available to help students during class and outside of class (before school and during lunch). I love History and English, and I hope to help students develop their critical thinking skills and love of learning. In both English and Social Studies, we use the California Standards to guide our curriculum. In our classes, we focus on critical thinking, reading, writing, speaking/listening, and vocabulary.
