Along with its German Program, La Habra High School also has a German Club.
Enrollment in a German class is not mandatory for joining the club. Club
members usually meet one day every other week during lunch in room 91.

The goal of the German Club is to introduce its members to a variety of
aspects of the German culture. Activities include:
GERMAN-AMERICAN WEEK: Students celebrate the many contributions that German
immigrants made to the United States.
OKTOBERFEST: Students go on a field trip to experience this famous German
tradition!
HERBSTFEST or ADVENTSFEST: This event takes place at a different location in
Orange County each year and is organized by German teachers from several
schools. It gives students the chance to enjoy German food, sing German
songs and play a variety of games while using the foreign language and
meeting teenagers from other schools who are also learning German.
WEIHNACHTSFEIER: Students learn about how Germans celebrate the Christmas
holiday and they get to make Gingerbread houses.
OSTERFEST: Students find out that the Easter bunny tradition came from
Germany and they get to go on an Easter egg hunt.
GERMAN CAMP: This is a weekend language camp in Big Bear where advanced
German students from all over Southern California meet and have fun "the
German way". This is only second best to the real thing, which would be a
trip to Germany. If you have done it once, you will want to go again the
following year.
Other activities throughout the year include singing German songs, playing
games and watching German movies.
The German Club also has a fundraiser in November when members sell Advent
calendars. The money gets used for buying new videos or games and also pays
for an end of the year banquet at a local restaurant. In order to be a part
of the dinner trip, students need to have successfully participated in the
fundraiser and missed no more than three meetings (exceptions include
illness or doctor appointments). German club has also given scholorships to
deserving graduating students in the past. Students need to have been in
German Club or the German National Honor Society for at least two years and
they are required to submit a letter to the club advisor stating why they
are deserving of the money.
Students who are enrolled in a German class can earn extra credit points by
regularly attending German Club meetings (3 points each meeting).
