About The Teacher

Dear First Grade Families,

I began my teaching career in 1993. I was hired as an English as a Second
Language teacher in Vista and worked with children from around the world. I
also served as an ESL coach, allowing me to provide district and state staff
development opportunities to my colleagues!

In 1996 I was hired as a first grade teacher at Vail Elementary School, in
Temecula. At the end of that year, Mrs. Hazlett announced she was opening
Vintage Hills Elementary School. I was so excited and honored to be chosen
to join the wonderful staff Mrs. Hazlett had selected. A couple of years
later, I took on the challenge of a first/second combo, and had a marvelous
year! Finally, I became a first grade teacher and found my niche! First
grade is a joy to teach!!

In the winter of 2005, Mrs. Hazlett announced she would once again open a
new school. I jumped at the opportunity to join the staff of Susan LaVorgna
Elementary School. I was chosen to teach first grade once again. It has
been a wonderful four years at this school. The students, parents, staff
and administration at LES are the best!

I have a very busy life outside of school. My family is number one in my
life. My husband Steve is busy restoring our 50 year old adobe home that
sits on hill in the middle of ten acres in Fallbrook! My son Christopher
and his wife Jacqueline are teachers at McKinley School in the Pasadena
School District. They are parents to our first grandson, Joshua who is 18
months old and has me wrapped around his finger! My daughter Jessica and
her husband Sean have recently moved to Pleasanton, CA where she is
beginning her teaching career as Sean begins a new job in the technology
industry.

MY CLASSROOM GOALS ARE:
To teach and to be taught
To motivate my students
To involve and communicate with parents
To instill empathy and compassion
To help children discover their gifts
To help children learn how to set goals
To inspire and make a difference
