Space Week October 4-10
In honor of International Space Week Lake View is inviting all students and
their families to attend a STAR PARTY! Please join us the evening of October
8th from 7PM to 9PM. The Orange County Astronomy Association will be here
with their very large and very powerful telescopes! We will view the heavens
and enjoy family activities related to the stars. Prepare to eat 'Star food'
and count the stars. See you on Thursday October 8th.
Robotics Update
Congratulations to the Lake View Robotics Team! Our 4th and 5th graders came
home winners again this year. The students ranked fourth place out of more
than 35 teams from SanDiego to Santa Barbara. This special event is hosted
by NASA at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory each Spring.
Summer 2009 Special Events
Fifth grade teachers, Sandi Lewis and Geoff Hammond, completed a week of
specialized educational training at the John Glenn Research Center in Ohio.
Our teachers participated with an elite group of fifth grade teachers
selected from a national pool of educators. The theme of the seminar
was "Teaching the Solar System Across the Curriculum." This September they
will implement the dynamic new lessons and instruction they have aquired.
