Advanced Science Advanced Science
Guiding Principles: · Both advanced and regular science courses must cover the State/District Standards for 7th and 8th grades. · The advanced course should be different – i.e. more challenging in specific ways. Proposed Methods of Differentiation: 1. The same California curriculum standards, but explored in greater depth. 2. The same California curriculum standards, but with higher level requirements, such as longer, more analytical lab analyses and summaries. 3. More complex thinking expected on assignments, quizzes, and tests. 4. Special projects, such as research projects and other in-depth extensions. 5. Special field trips, such as a Challenger Mission at the Discovery Museum. 6. The use of computers and other technology in the curriculum, where appropriate, on a continuous and ongoing basis. 7. Honors Projects (optional).
