Mrs. Parsons is the mother of Christina and her husband Arthur(both teachers
in Las Vegas) and son Timothy(sets up car shows all around the country). Her
husband is Dr. Parsons who teaches in the Learning Center at Ocean View in
Whittier. She began teaching in Fresno California as a music teacher. Some
years later, she met her husband who was also a music teacher. Three years
later their daughter was born and they were soon heading for Ft. Wayne Indiana
where her husband studied for the ministry. The Parsons' also taught music in
Ft. Wayne. After 4 years, and a son, they moved to Gun Barrel City, Texas.
Mrs. Parsons went back to full time teaching, the third year in Texas. She
taught first grade in a very large school. A year later, the Parsons moved
back to Whittier (which is where Mrs. Parsons was born). Mrs.Parsons began
teaching first grade at Faith Lutheran School where her husband was Pastor.
Five years later, she enrolled at University of La Verne to obtain her special
education credential. At that time, Mrs. Parsons began teaching for East
Whittier as a Special Day Class teacher. Two years later, she came to Murphy
Ranch and Leffingwell as a Resource Specialist. Another two years passed and
Mrs. Parsons started the Learning Center at Leffingwell, the first of 10 in
the District. Mrs. Parsons passion includes a love for her family and her
church, music, art, scrapbooking and reading. Is she ready to retire? Not
yet.....
The purpose of the Learning Center is to help students with challenges in
Language Arts and Math, to reach their potential. Our staff accomplishes this
through the use of a variety of strategies, lots of personal attention, love,
and positive reinforcement.
