Homework

What you can expect from every teacher:

The grade level limit for homework is 40 minutes, not including reading.

Reading: Each teacher is requiring 100 minutes of reading a week, to be
recorded in their agenda, and signed by you.

Math: Every third grade class will be giving a variety of homework. The
grade level expectation is that EVERY student will have 20 minutes of math
homework each night. This should be a conducive and focused 20 minutes in a
quiet part of the home. If, after 20 minutes, your child has not completed
the assignment, please write a small note on the homework and sign it.
Homework is meant to support the learning that occurred in class, not push a
child into frustration. Like wise, if your child finishes their math
homework in less than 20 minutes, they are expected to continue their math
studies by working with facts, using online math links or working with a
parent to reinforce skills, strategies and concepts being studied.

Language, etc: You can expect 20 minutes of homework each night, which may
include, but not limited to spelling, social studies, writing or science.
Please check you child's agenda EACH NIGHT to keep updated on daily
expectations and assignments.

REMINDER!!!!
Your signature is required in your child's agenda each night and your
support with assignments is greatly appreciated. Please contact your child's
teacher if you have any questions.
