Writing Assignment
You are to plan and write a short story about a monarch butterfly. You are to
pretend that you are the butterfly and tell about your life and adventures.
Use the information from the story in Wordly Wise lesson 4 and from your work
packet. You may also want to find out more about monarch butterflies from the
internet, with a parent’s approval.
Steps:
1. Gather your information/do your research.
2. You must use 10 words in your story from the vocabulary lessons 1-4
in Wordly Wise. Choose your words and list them on your “Planning a Short
Story” sheet.
3. Plan your story by filling in “Planning a Short Story” sheet.
4. Write your short story. This is a rough draft.
5. Underline the vocabulary words that you used in your story. There
should be at least 10 words.
6. Proof-read and make any corrections that you can find.
7. You will copy the story over IN CLASS.
Your story is due Monday, November 11th.
