Hello Parents,
Between now and Christmas Break we are doing a special Bible project in class, so there will not be any Bible questions assigned until the new year.
All 5th graders are striving to join the 50 States Club. By May, 2010 members must be able to identify the location of each of the 50 states on a map of the United States and be able to identify those states’ capitals. The rewards for being able to accomplish this are (1) personal satisfaction of a job well done; (2) their names will be published in the school newsletter upon completion of each level in The 50 States Club; and (3) a grade equal to a History test grade. Tests will be given once a month. Practice pre-test(s) on History page of website. Students can study for the 50 States Club tests by practicing identifying the states on the pre-tests I hand out. They may also practice on several websites, such as the ones below:

This year the students did a great job participating in Operation Christmas Child as part of the Samaritan’s Purse program. The LACS community collected almost 300 Christmas shoes boxes filled to the brim with candies and gifts to be distributed to children around the world. Thank you to all who participated! Please pray for the children who will receive these gift boxes.
The 5th Grade is preparing for our school’s Christmas Chapel which is December 18th at 9:00 a.m. I hope you can come to this wonderful chapel. Unfortunately I will miss the last 2 days of school before the Christmas Break in order to be with my parents to celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
Remember to please help your children to print out and outdate their planners with next week’s homework this weekend. Each student should learn how to do this on his/her own over the next few weeks. They will be responsible for updating their planners this way during the year. Check Mrs. Hibbert’s website for Science homework.
I hope that each of your have a wondrous and joyful Christmas and that you are able to celebrate Jesus’ birth the true “reason for the season”.
Blessings,
Dwin Graham
