About The Teacher

I am very excited about the 2011-12 school year. I look forward to this new
adventure at Los Altos Christian School. I am a graduate of Mills College.
I earned my California Multiple Subject Credential from CSU Stanislaus and
completed my M.Ed at the University of the Southwest, which is a Christian
University. I have twin girls, Madison and Mikaela! I enjoy spending my time
being active with my family. We love doing crafts, cooking together, biking,
swimming, and reading. Working with children is one of my
passions. I love to watch them grow. Kindergarten is a year of great change.
Remember to take pictures, because the year goes by so fast!
I look forward to getting to know you and your child!

Mission for the Class

Kindergarten at LACS is a full day academic program. Students receive
instruction in all the core areas (e.g., reading/literature study/phonics,
math, writing/penmanship, Bible, science, and social science) as well as
attending specialized
instructional classes in P.E., Art, Music, Library, and Computers. Our goal
in Kindergarten is to prepare our students academically, socially, and
emotionally during this first year of "Big School". They will learn to be
responsible
learners and become caring members of their classroom and campus wide
communities. Students are taught biblical
truths and applications throughout the core curriculum, especially as they
concentrate on the steps of our conflict management program called
the "Friendship Fixer." We also utilize a "Problem Solving Wheel" in
Kindergarten that helps us make good choices. The "Friendship Fixer" school-
wide program is particularly emphasized in Kindergarten as a means to apply
the Golden Rule and teach students to be
responsible for building positive relationships with others.
