About Mrs. May

During my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, walking my dog, writing, and riding horses.  Being  a lover of animals, I am especially fond of dogs and horses.   Currently, I have an Australian Shepherd and an Arabian horse who both enjoy a lot of my free time.  Enjoying delicious food, Mr. May and I look forward to dining out and trying new restaurants.  To relax, I always recommend  a good book.  If you know of any you have read lately, I would love to hear about it.  I especially love to read books where characters are developed into people you grow to care about.

Teaching is not my first career.  Before having children, I had a career in human resources developing college recruiting programs and working in employee relations.  After having children, I stayed home with them and enjoyed my volunteer opportunities at their schools.

What I enjoy most about teaching is developing a sense of community in our classroom where everyone feels they have a gift and something to contribute.  I especially look forward to seeing students realize their potential, challenging themselves to go beyond prior achievement levels, while discovering attributes such as leadership.  In 2009, I was awarded the PPIE Excellence in Education Award.
