Dear Room 8 Parents,
February is flying by! Next Tuesday, February 14th, is Valentine’s Day. The children are invited to pass out Valentines and celebrate this special day with their friends in room 8. I would like each student to make a Valentine box at home. This should be a wrapped shoe box in which the lid is completely removable. Boxes can be decorated and designed however you like. I only ask that the lid is removable in order to fit goodies easily inside and that the child’s name is clearly written on the box. Please bring in Valentine boxes no later than Monday, February 13th.
Passing out Valentines is always a highlight for students. If your child would like to pass out Valentines, be sure to include everyone and bring one for every student in the class.
Hugs!
Miss Warner

Dear room 8 families,
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday spent with family and friends. I had a fantastic holiday myself! It all started with our class celebration. It was such a special day! Thank you to all the parents who contributed their time and talents to make a memory for our kiddos that will last a lifetime. I also want to thank everyone for contributing to such a generous class gift for me. I already used some of it at the after Christmas sales! I felt showered with love by all the thoughtful gifts and sweet cards that poured in throughout the week. With a heart full of gratitude, THANK YOU.
Although the holiday break was excellent, it is so great to be back in school! I am excited to begin our new unit “Journeys”. We will be learning all about this outstanding country of ours. This week, we will be readingTar Beachby Faith Ringgold. This piece of literature will be our gateway into learning about different types of homes and communities. Students will also create beautiful artwork inspired from the book that will be displayed at the winter art gallery. The winter art gallery will be held in the MATES MPR on Thursday, January 26th.
I am looking for a few items needed to create the cover of each students’ Journey notebook.
~ maps that you will not need back
~ travel section of the newspaper
~ travel magazines
If you have any of these items on hand please send them in by Friday.
Thank you as always for your continued support. You are such a vital part of your child’s education and I am so appreciative of all that you do.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2012!
Love,
Miss Warner
