Focus for the MonthWe will be starting our Oceans Unit. This unit will last the rest of the school year. In addition, we will be working on preparing the students for the STAR testing in May. The children will learn how to take the test as well as strategies to use when answering the questions. Language Arts- The students will be learning about lighthouses and reading a story about a little girl called Keep the Lights Burning Abbie.
Writing- We will continue to focus on having the students perfect their writing skills. They have come a long way since the beginning of the year. The students will be practicing writing using transition words, correct spelling and puncuation, descriptive language and capitols where appropriate. In addition, the students will continue to edit their own writing looking for errors they may have made.Math-The students are working on perimeter, area, multiplication, division, arrays, usining appropriate units of meaure, telling time to the minute and story problems. The students are also continuing to memorize their addition and subtraction facts. It is important that they have these memorized by the end of the school year.

Reminders
Remember to pack a snack for your child. This helps them refuel at recess so they can be ready to learn.
Tuesdays continue to be pizza sales and Thursdays are chicken nuggets. If you would like your child to buy lunch on these days, make sure to pay the office or send your child to school with the money the morning of.
