CalSTAT Award

Marine View Middle School was again recognized as a Model Leadership 
Sites - Literacy. This recognition is extended to schools that exemplify 
model instructional practices and programs resulting in student achievement. 
Marine View was first recognized in 2004-2005, in 2005-2006 and once 
again in December for 2006-2007.  Marine View will serve as a model site in 
Literacy for visitations by California educators interested in restructuring 
or refining their school's literacy program and practices.  Marine View is 
honored by this recognition.

CalSTAT (California Services for Technical Assistance and Training is a 
special project of the California Department of Education located at Sonoma 
State University.  The grant award provides funds for professional 
development in specific research proven instructional practices in each of 
their core message areas.  Nine teachers attended Early Reading Intervention 
training with Dr. Kevin Feldman and four teachers attended the Collaborative 
Leadership Institute using CalSTAT funds in 2004-2005, as well as multiple 
additonal trainings to ensure fidelity to research proven intervention 
programs. 

Teachers are grateful for the close ties with parents as it takes a village 
to raise children for success.  We appreciate the support of parents and the 
community in our commitment to children.
