Message from the Principal

Welcome to Mesa View Middle School where everyone has the opportunity to soar their way to success by demonstrating their personal best! The 3 Rs (Respect Yourself, Respect Others, and Respect the Environment) as practiced by our students and staff continue to drive our scholarly environment. Mesa View is home to the Ocean View School District’s Gifted and Talented Education (G.A.T.E.) magnet program. In addition to the G.A.T.E. magnet program, we provide an enriched Honors program, comprehensive grade level program, and a variety of intervention programs in a concentrated effort to reach the needs of all students.

There have been several changes within our school for the 2009-2010 school year. Our sixth grade instructional environment has evolved to limit students’ teachers and provide for a separate daily schedule from the 7th and 8th grade students. Additions to the Mesa View staff include Ms. Kate Andruss to our 7th and 8th grade science team, Mrs. Cheryl Craycroft and Mrs. Lori Nash to our intervention team, and Ms. Eunice Su and Ms. Megan Cornelsen to our 6th grade team. Numerous veteran teachers at Mesa View have also taken on new curricular areas and/or grade levels this year.

Our staff believes communication to be a key tool to success. In addition to regular contact with parents, the vast majority of teachers have agreed to make grades and progress checks available with the click of a mouse. Parents and students can monitor progress and obtain homework for many classes by accessing SnapGrades.net and/or TeacherWeb.com.

It is essential for students, teachers, and parents to work together for the progressive success of each child and we have certainly felt this strong connection as we have started the year. We look forward to continuing to work with our families to provide the best possible educational opportunity for all students.
