MATERIALS and TEXTBOOKS

Each student will be expected to obtain and keep in order the materials for this class listed below. If anyone should have difficulty in buying/finding these items, please let your teacher know. It is expected that these materials will be obtained by Monday, August 31st.

MATERIALS:

(Good Idea: Print out list and bring to store!)

  • 2 Pens (blue or black only)
  • 2 pencils
  • Glue stick(s)
  • Small Post-Its (the 3"x3" ones)
  • Highlighter
  • Notebook: - A SPIRAL NOTEBOOK with at least 100-200 pages (100 pages won't last the whole year, but is easier to carry. Probably best to buy two of these smaller ones throughout the year, rather than one huge, honkin' notebook to lug around!); make sure it comes with pockets to put loose papers in.
  • A FlashDrive for saving/moving documents from home to school. No more, "My printer went down...." Save on the drive, bring to school, and print at school; as long as it's before class!. (256mb, 512mb, or 1gb: all can be found for under $15.00; a 2gb flashdrive costs between $16.00 and $20.00 They may also be rented from the library).

TEXTBOOKS:

1. Hardcover A More Perfect Union will be handed out early to be taken home and left there until the end of the year. There will be copies in the classroom for classwork.

2. Hardcover History Alive! textbook; also handed out early to be taken home for the year. A class set is kept in the classroom for classwork.

3. Softcover Constitutional Law book, an auxillary text. Class set kept in the classroom.

4. The Challenge of Information, from the Constitutional Rights Foundation, a short text on discerning our media and the importance of a free press. This text is in a binder, kept in the classroom.

5. Creating Political Cartoons. This text is in a binder, kept in the classroom.

6. Novels used in the curriculum are from the MVMS Library. They should be read with care, brought to and from school, and returned to the Library upon completion.
