About Me

Hello and welcome to my web page at Miller Creek Middle School. I am David Leipsic, a learning
specialist at Miller Creek. The 2011 - 2012 school year will mark my fourth year at Miller Creek
and ninth year as a resource specialist. My philosophy for teaching is that all students can learn,
given the right opportunities, accommodations and resources. All students need encouragement,
support, and guidance in their learning. I aim to teach students to value and appreciate new
knowledge and apply it to their lives. I believe in a nurturing, mentoring and coaching approach to
my teaching where each student is empowered to achieve
their potential and then reflect on their success.

Some of my personal interests include running in the hills of marin and in local cross country
races and marathons, cooking, gardening and playing guitar. I love being a parent and keeping
actively engaged in my San Rafael neighborhood, son's school and athletic teams and throughout
my community.

I am a graduate of Redwood High School, U.C. Santa Barbara and Dominican University, where I
received my master's degree and teaching credential in 2000.

Mission For The Class

It is my mission for each and every student I work with to become a self-directed, responsible, and
enthusiastic learner. I aim to help each student develop the skill sets and self-motivations
they need to overcome any learning or motivational challenge.
