Classes are assigned to students based on academic needs, student interest,
and teacher availability. Elective classes are assigned by a lottery, with
preference given to 8th grade students.

What do I do if my child would like to change classes?

In order to resolve scheduling conflicts or concerns in a timely manner, we
have established a timeframe for dropping or adding of classes for Miller
students. The schedule change request time frame is August 8-August 21st.

As we consider schedule change requests, we will adhere to the Miller Middle
School policy as stated in the student planner. Please note that we do not
alter student schedules based on teacher preference.

Schedules are carefully prepared according to educational needs and elective
requests. No schedule change will be considered unless there is a sound
educational reason. Parent permission is required before changes are made.

After reviewing Miller policy, we still want a schedule change.

Question: My student and I have reviewed the Miller policy and we would still
like to request a schedule change. How do I request a schedule change?

Answer: Please obtain a schedule change request slip in the main office.
These slips will be available beginning on August 8th. Counselors will not
schedule individual meetings to discuss schedule changes or take email
requests for changes.

passes the Challenge Test, do I need to submit a schedule change request?

assigned at the end of the 07-08 academic year. If your child passes the CUSD
Challenge Test, please contact your Counselor and arrange for your schedule to
