Miller Math Marathon

Miller Middle School is pleased to announce our second annual Miller Math Marathon on
Saturday, January 19, 2008. This contest will follow the Math Counts format. Please mark
this date on your calendars, and plan on participating in the competition.

This contest is for students in grades 6 through 8, and you may bring a maximum of four
teams per grade level. All students will take part in the sprint, target, and the team round.
Unfortunately, if you fall short of students to make a team, we will not be able to merge teams this
year. We would, however, like every student to participate in all three written rounds. When you
register your team, please choose up to eight students per grade level to participate in the count
down round.

Trophies will be awarded at each grade level to the top fifteen individuals, top five teams, and
top four individuals in the Count Down round.

Students should bring their own snacks, water, pencils, and calculators. We will provide lunch
for contestants, proctors, graders, data entry people, and lunch supervisors. Anyone with food
allergies should bring their own food.

Due to the scale of this event we request that each school bring a proctor, up to two graders, a
data entry person, and a lunch supervisor. Graders, data entry people, and lunch supervisors
require no previous experience. Proctors will need to follow the directions on the test. There
will be an orientation for proctors, data entry people, and graders at the contest.

This year we are able to accommodate up to 160 students per grade level. Registration is $8
per student. The registration deadline is December 21, 2007.

We have a limited number of scholarships available. Coaches, please let me know the number of
scholarships needed as soon as possible.

Looking forward to seeing you all on January 19th!
