6th Grade Drama

Puppet Guidelines –

1. Your story and script must include all of the elements of fiction:
Exposition, plot, conflicts, main conflict, rising action, climax &
resolution.

2. Each person in your group must play at least 2 characters with differing
voices. You can accomplish this with using a dialect or an accent and/or
changing the rate or pitch of your speech.

3. Scripts must:
a. Have a title page with everyone’s name and the characters they are playing
	b. Typed and double spaced in 12 – 14 size font in script form
	c. Highlighted by character
	d. Minimum 3 pages (not including the title page) maximum 5 pages
	e. Checked for spelling errors

4. Keep it appropriate!

5. The narrator counts as a character.

6. You may record your character voices if you wish.

7. Music can be used.

8. You only have 30 seconds for scene changes. You can provide entertainment
during scene changes if you want but it must not detract from your play.

and fabric for your puppets.

You need to provide 1 clean sock for each puppet you make, fabric glue, a
sturdy box or bag with everyone’s name in your group on it.

You can bring in any craft supplies that you wish

You will receive a grade for each of the following:
Story – Does it contain the elements of fiction? Is it creative? Does it make
sense?
Script – Is it neatly typed? Does it follow the guidelines? Highlighted?
Character Voices – 2 each with obvious differences
Puppets – Workmanship, creativity, functional
Presentation – Does it flow? Quick scene changes? Are the voices loud and
clear? Are the puppets operated well?

You will also be graded on the “Elements of Fiction” worksheet, your story
form and how well you worked with your group on a daily basis.

At the end of the project you will fill out a “self-evaluation” form and have
a chance to rate your group members.

Good luck, stay focused and have fun!
