Welcome to Montgomery High School. If you wish to receive announcements pertaining to 9th grade
issues, please add you e-mail address below.

CHANGE TO THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA ADMISSION POLICY
Affecting current high school students graduating in 2012 and beyond.

A. SAT II-subject tests will no longer be required for addmission.
B. All applicants will need to complete 11 of the 15 "A-G"
courses by the end of their junior year. For the Montgomery High School UC Approved "A-G" Course List please visit: https://doorways.ucop.edu/list/ and type in Montgomery High School.

ACTIVITIES TO ACCOMPLISH IN THE 9TH GRADE, (FRESHMEN):

All the following activities should be accomplished during the 9th grade. Review this list as
your student registers for courses.

•Complete a tentative four-year plan for courses in grades 9 through 12.
This should be done on the basis of a chosen educational pathway. This may
be done during a freshman conference with student.
•Meet graduation requirements to date and enroll in a full-time program.
•Participate in a career exploration activity, researching careers of
possible interest and revising a career pathway.
•Receive summer school information if there are failed requirements.
•Receive information necessary in preparation for 10th grade registration.

Registration for 10th grade will begin this spring. At the end of the 9th grade students must
declare a pathway to begin in the 10th grade. This university or career pathway is a
requirement for graduation. The existing pathways include: university pathway, arts pathway,
business pathway, and a new "green construction" pathway starting in fall, 2008. If interested,
please contact your counselor as soon as possible. This pathway will start as cohort (group of
students) who will take 4 periods together in the fall. These classes will be applied
technology (with green construction emphasis), applied algebra, environmental science, and
English.

This exciting program aims to prepare students to enter the rapidly expanding green construction
industry directly, or enter one of two certificate programs in green construction at Santa Rosa
Junior College or Sonoma State University.
