What a great time of year...Boys basketball took 2nd place in the Crescent City Tournament and our cheerleading squad took first place! Congratulations Panthers. This week we have baseball and softball season starting. Wednesday there will be a Parent Club Meeting at 6:00 in the Library. To finish things off, we have our annual Godfather Spaghetti Dinner and Auction. This is a fundraiser event for the 8th grade to raise money for all of the end of the year activities. You do not want to miss this event. Doors open at 5:00 and dinner will be served at 5:30. See you there!

Godfather Dinner & Auction Coming March 12th

The Godfather Spaghetti Dinner and Auction will be on March 12th. This is an 8th grade fundraiser event and all proceeds will go to fund the end of the year activities for the graduating class of 2010. Doors open at 5:30 and tickets are on sale now from any 8th grader for $5. Gift baskets are also being collected to be auctioned off at the dinner. Please turn in all gift baskets and other auction items to Mrs. Wallman as soon as possible. For more information, please see the letter at the link above.

MVMS Showcase Event Planned for 3/25
MVMS will be hosting a Showcase Event for parents that are interested in "checking out" what MVMS has to offer for their students. The event will be held on Thursday, March 25th at 6:00 in the gym. All of our grade levels will be represented and teachers will be on hand to explain their programs and answer questions. Light refreshments will be served and Parent Club, Music and Athletics will also be represented to give parents the opportunity to take a closer look.

MVMS Odyssey Team Takes 2nd Place
The MVMS Odyssey of the Mind team took 2nd place in the tournament that was held here at MVMS on Saturday, February 27th. Our team, consisting of Riley Baldwin, Chandler Roe, Trinity Nordstrom, Devin Ryan, Ryan Rowe, and Micah Larimer, will go on to compete at the state level at the end of March. Congratulations and good luck!

At the beginning of this week a letter was sent home with 8th grade students informing them of the all of the good times that are coming to MVMS 8th graders this Spring. It kicks off with the Godfather Dinner and Auction. This is a fundraiser event that features a spaghetti dinner and auction to raise money for the 8th grade end of the year activities (Dance, Ceremony, and Fun Day). This year the dinner will be held on Friday, March 12th. Tickets are being sold now by 8th grade students and baskets are being collected for the auction. This is a great event and you do not want to miss out. Click on the link to get the latest on the Dinner, the Dance, the Graduation Ceremony, and the Fun Day. Spelling Bee Contestants Move On
Congratulations to our Spelling Bee winners: 6th grade Maddy Rigby and Jake Angstadt, 7th grade Euan Harrington, and 8th grader Andrew Duff. They will be going on to represent MVMS at the Shasta County Junior High Spelling Bee on Wednesday, March 31st at 4:00 at Millville Elementary School. Good luck P-a-n-t-h-e-r-s!

Track Season Starts on March 8th
Track season will begin with preseason warm-ups on March 8th. Students will need a signed permission slip and grade check to partcipate. All students that come out will make the team and practices will held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15-4:15. Any questions, see Mr. Hall.

Foothill High School Registration Coming Soon

With the 8th grade school year winding down it is time to start getting ready for the high school registration process. Foothill High School counselors came to visit 8th grade students on Wednesday, February 24th to present information about their programs. There is also a Curriculum Fair at Foothill High School on March 4 at 6:30 pm. Information about academic programs and opportunities will be shared with parents and students that are interested in attending FHS next year. Counselors will be coming out to register students for classes on March 10th and 11th. For more information just click on the link for the Parent Registration Letter.

MVMS Library Open Early
To help students get in out of the cold and hit the books early, we will be opening the library beginning at 7:45 Monday through Friday. Students are welcome to come in to work on school work, get help on homework, read, or just hang out with friends. It's the place to be!
