Summer Reading List

Dear Third Grade Students,

Welcome to third grade! Get ready to learn many new things
and have fun along the way! One of the first things we will be
doing in third grade is an author study of Roald Dahl. Roald Dahl's
stories are filled with interesting characters and creative plots.

I want your summer to be filled with adventures and hilarious
moments. That is why your summer reading list is filled with
different Roald Dahl books. Below I have listed several books that
I think you will enjoy. Please choose one book to read this
summer. You will then be asked to fill out the book report form on
this website when you are done.

Feel free to read other Roald Dahl books that are not on
the list. In the middle of September we will share what we have
read and celebrate the writings of Roald Dahl. Keep in mind that
you will be asked to come to school dressed up as one of your
favorite characters from a Roald Dahl book. I will explain
the "Roald Dahl Celebration" during the first week of school. There
is one exception! DO NOT CHOOSE THE BOOK, "THE WITCHES!" We will
be reading this book together as a class.

Once you have finished your Roald Dahl book, you should try
exploring some other great novels. I have also made a separate list
of wonderful books that you can enjoy during your time off. I look
forward to seeing you all in September! Happy reading. :)
