THE 5TH GRADE STATE FAIR

The State Fair was fabulous! Your children did a fantastic job of preparing their projects and answering questions concerning their states. Great work!

A BIG “thank you” to all parents for the assistance you gave to your child in selecting, preparing, delivering, and displaying state foods. Also, thanks for helping in the coordination of your child’s clothing to enhance the depiction of each state. I fully appreciate the time and effort that you devoted to this project.

Thanks for helping to make State Fair 2013 an incredible success! Your children are the best!

Thanks also to the moms who came in to help with the set-up and tear-down of the Fair. Those helpers were: Mrs. Green, Mrs. McRoskey, Mrs. Spain, Mrs. James, and Mrs. Sims. It couldn’t have happened without you!

TECHNOLOGY CLASS

The students are enjoying their time in our beautiful, computer lab with Miss Ennis. Each student worked to learn skills that enabled them to create their own travel brochure for the state they chose for the State Report project. They have been working on Typing Pal Online to improve their word processing skills.
It is very important that all of the students become proficient typists and increase their knowledge of computer technology. Today’s world requires it!

STATE REPORTS

The State Reports have all been graded. Every word of each report was read by me. It was a very time consuming, but enjoyable task, and I too learned from their efforts. It was fun to see the variety of ways that the students chose to assemble and organize their reports. Some were better researched and written, while others included incredible artwork and visual sections. The reports reflected both effort and care.

The oral portion of each report was nicely delivered and enabled the students to share some of their research with each other.

Grade sheets that
outline each student’s performance will be included inside of their report. The written state reports will remain in the classroom until the end of the school year.

Thanks for your patience and support throughout this project.

BOOK REPORTS

The next book report is due on Tuesday, April 30. This month’s genre is mystery. All students need to complete a written report, a project and give an oral sharing.
