Weighting of Grades

Grading Policy for Humanities 8

Grades will be averaged in the following areas:

Writing/Projects/Accelerated Reader-40%

Tests and Quizzes-30%

Homework/Oral Presentations-20%

Class Participation 10%

Late work will be accepted up to one week late, but will lose 10% of its value
for each day it's late.

I require students to complete any missing or late work before providing extra
credit assignments. I prefer students to put their time, effort, and energy
into the required assignments rather than asking for extra credit assignments,
but I am happy to suggest extra challenges and ways that students can stretch
their thinking for those who are interested.

Students are responsible to make up missed assignments, tests, quizzes, etc.
due to illness. Please check in with a class buddy to find out what you've
missed, and then schedule a time with me to make up your missing work within
one week upon your return.

Journalism and Healthy Living Students will be graded largely on their
performance on class assignments and enthusiastic, respectful participation in
class activities. Grades will not be weighted in the electives I teach.

Please see Synergy/Genesis for your actual grades. Thank you.
