WINTER PERFORMANCE
I am so proud of the performance of all of my students. This was their first opportunity to perform before an audience and they truly sang their hearts out. It was exciting for me to see my past students perform as well. Mrs. Graves has done a spectacular job teaching music and having children well prepared for the event! Thanks to all who baked items and sent supplies for the dinner and bake sale! You are an outstanding group of busy parents. Thanks again for all you do.
THIS WEEK IN KINDERGARTEN
This week we will study letter Bb, number 15 and counting money with dimes. We will continue our unit on reptiles, which is a big hit with students! Correcting simple sentences together and continued reading in our primers will take place to keep order in the house. We have several Christmas projects to complete and gifts to make for our Kinder Pals.
HEALTHY LUNCH ORDERS ARE DUE ON DECEMBER 15TH FOR JANUARY.
Please be sure and get your orders in so there is no confusion when we return in January. The last thing your child needs upon return is to have confusion due to orders not placed on time.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16TH , SANTA’S WORKSHOP IN 5TH GRADE
On Wednesday morning our class will visit Santa’s Workshop in Mr. Potter’s 5th Grade class. With only $2 to $5 your child will be able to purchase many gifts for family members. No items cost more than $2 each. This is a fun shopping experience for students making purchases for others.
GREAT BIG THANKS to Mrs. Morris for teaching us about Hanukah. On Friday Mrs. Morris began our day cooking Latkes while Asa taught students to play the dradel game. Mrs. Morris read stories to further teach about the Menorah and about the celebration of Hanukah. Thank your to Hailee’s mother, Mrs. Lane for organizing our classroom library into fiction and non-fiction books. This was a task I have been wanting to attend for some time, especially as I’ve added many new books to our library. Thanks to all for the wonderful snacks, especially Grandma Pat who likes to serve fresh, healthy snacks to the students. Thank you to Mrs. Foster for her great organization of book orders and NOW our Smallhands Catalog, which offers many gift ideas for your children. Orders from the catalog can be placed throughout the year.
SMALLHANDS ORDERS DUE BY DECEMBER 31ST
Along with your personal orders for wonderful items from the Smallhands catalog I have posted classroom gift ideas around our front door if you are interested in purchasing a gift for the class. If you see one from my wish list please take the tag and
place your order by December 31st so our class can get credit toward these quality items. I promise to use them all this year with your students. I have quite a large order for Christmas gifts for family and friends as well as numerous items to order for the class. Teaching tools are often the best gift for teachers and their classes. All orders are placed online. See me if you need a new catalog or further information.
Many of the items I have been looking for in catalogs and not found available through school supply catalogs. Smallhands happens to have these materials!
CHRISTMAS PARTY, 10:30 FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18TH
AS MENTIONED IN PREVIOUS NEWSLETTERS, YOUR CHILD HAS SELECTED A FRIEND TO PURCHASE A GIFT FOR. THERE IS A $5 MAXIMUM AMOUNT FOR EACH GIFT. If this creates a problem for you during these difficult economic times PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Otherwise, please bring wrapped gift with the student’s name on it to put under the tree by THURSDAY.
Our party will begin at 10:30ish; parents may come in and set up at that time. We have three activities and snacks which will be followed by the gift exchange. I’d like to move the activities along so the children can spend time opening gifts and thanking their friends for their generosity. I’ve noticed that this is where most of the time is most enjoyed and the Christmas Spirit is most evident.
If you would like to help by sending in decorated cookies, apple juice, fresh veggies and ranch dressing please let me know so we are not duplicating the same snack items. Please let me know of your intentions by Tuesday so I can pick up what else is needed.
I HAVE LISTED THE MANY SCHOOL EVENTS ON THE ANOUNCEMENTS CALENDAR PAGE TO HELP WITH YOUR PLANNING.
I WILL MISS MY STUDENTS OVER THE TWO WEEK BREAK. I AM ALWAYS AMAZED HOW MUCH THEY HAVE MATURED DURING THIS TIME. PLEASE KNOW THAT THEY WILL BE IN MY THOUGHTS AND WE WISH EVERY ONE OF YOU A JOYFUL HOLIDAY SEASON!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Clouse and Grandma Pat
