Classroom Times

October 24, 2008

Thank you SO much to all of you who helped with last Friday’s field trip to Whiskeytown Environmental School. The children had lots of exciting things to report to me on Monday. The success of the trip depends on parent volunteers, and we are very grateful to all of you who helped make this day possible and special.

Our class raised close to $800 with our school Jog-a-thon! We are EXCITED! The money we raise is used for field trips, parties, and others special things for our class. Thank you to all of you for your support! We will have a special celebration for a job well done next Wednesday afternoon. ;-)

Thank you for returning your conference request form to me. I will schedule conference appointments and send you a confirmation. If for any reason your appointment time will not work, please let me know as soon as possible and I will do everything I can to plan a time that will be convenient for you.

Conference week is November 3 through November 7. Please note that the primary grades will be a minimum day schedule this entire week. Dismissal time will be 12:30 P.M. each day. Please keep this in mind when ordering healthy lunches, as the only children who will be eating at school that will be the children who are in S.A.I.L.S.

Our Fall/ Halloween Festival will be next Friday. We will begin the day with the school-wide costume parade at 8:00 A.M. You are more than welcome to come watch the parade. Children may come to school dressed in costume. Please have your child wear school clothes under his/her costume, as we will be changing back into regular clothes after the parade. If this is not possible,  a change of clothes can come to school in backpacks, and the children will be given an opportunity to go down to the restroom to change. PLEASE NOTE: Please help you children pick a costume that is appropriate for school. If the costume includes any kind of weapon, the weapon must stay at home. We go for the cute look  -- no blood, nothing gory, gruesome, or scary. Thanks! Our school curriculum for the remainder of the day will revolve around fall and Halloween.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Norma Horton.
