I was born in Southern California, the first of 3 children. My parents went to Chico State, were
married at the Newman Center and loved Chico so much decided it was where they wanted to raise
their children. I loved my childhood in this wonderful town and have followed in my parents
footsteps in choosing education as my profession. My father taught Social Studies at Chico Jr. High
for 30+ years and my mother, who also has a teaching credential and art degree has been the proud
owner of the Creative Apple for 29 years.
I graduated from Chico High in 1987, then attend and ran track for Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo. I
finished up my BA in Graphic Design at Chico State in 1992, then took some time off from school to
work in design and the television industry. My local claim to fame is designing the lettering and logo
for Made in Chico and directing the Morris Taylor Show. You gotta be local to know about good 'ole
Morris. High Sierra...
I went back to school in 1996 to attain my teaching credential at Chico State and landed my first
teaching job in Lodi, CA teaching kindergarten! I fell in love with the children and curriculum and my
husband to be all in the same year. We married the following year at Our Divine Savior Church here
in Chico where I had attended church throughout my life. My husband and I moved to Fremont, CA
where I taught kindergarten for another 2 years and one year of 1st grade.
I left teaching in 2001 to give birth to our first child Cal and Ryan would soon follow 2 years later
in Napa, CA. I have stayed home 8 years to raise our children and we recently moved back to Chico
when I discovered my childhood dream house was for sale! An opportunity to live in the house both
my husband and I had admired while living in Chico was one we couldn't pass up.
More recently I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to teach in the grade I love where my
children attend school here at Notre Dame. Another one of my dreams come true and I feel very
fortunate.
I am very blessed to be your child's teacher and will relish each day that I am able to spend
growing and learning with them. Thank you and God for your little treasure!
