Dear Second Grade Parents,
We are sending home a grandparent interview and form for a family tree. This
is part of the Second Grade standard in Social Studies. I thought
Thanksgiving and Christmas might be a good time to work on this. Please take
the time to contact your child’s grandparents (if possible) and let your
child interview them. They can use the form provided or make up their own
questions to find out what life was like for them when they were young. If
grandparents don’t live in the area you might call them or if you are unable
to contact them your little one could interview an aunt, uncle, or even
yourself!
In this packet there is also a map to mark the countries where your ancestors
originated from and a family tree to fill out as best you can. Some years
the children and parents make their own family tree. Sometimes the children
already have a family tree made and they bring that in to share. Make this
work for you! I will be asking for this information to be completed when we
return to school in January. We will then share them during the first couple
weeks of the month.
I hope this will be a fun project for the whole family!
Blessed holidays to you all, Ms. Givens
