WEEK OF NOVEMBER 30

Parents and Family

Now that we've crossed the finish line of the first trimester it is important
to understand that we, at NDS, have a core value of preparing our students to
be independent and engaged learners.  Part of that engagement is working with
and through each student's level of participation in the educational process.
 This means allowing the student to take responsibility and a level of
accountability for working on assignments, for explaining what they know and
don't know, using technology or other text resources to assist in 
learning, following directions and turning every assignment in on time.  Sure,
we all know that students are involved in many outside activities, yet there
have been times when assignments have been given weeks or a month or more
before the due date but somehow little is done until right before it's time to
turn in an assignment.  There is value in letting students realize they cannot
wait that long, that they can in turn value preparation, active learning and
engage teachers for a better understanding.  We've got work to do...and we
are all ready to go.
