Progress Reports went home last Friday -- you might be wondering how you/
your child can pull up their Reading and Writing grade in time for 3rd
trimester report cards...

Your best way to pull up those grades is to do your work, do it well, and
turn it in on time! We are working on poetry / response to literature /
perspectives in class now. Do the work and get it in. After CST testing week,
we will begin "Man of La Mancha." Be sure you work in class and get your
assignments completed in time for us to check your work. Often, we do a quick
check of Credit / No Credit and if you do not have the work completed when we
check, you receive No Credit.

****Also, pay attention to this date: Tuesday, May 29th! This is the LAST DAY
you can turn in LATE or MISSING work (assigned from April 26-May25). We will
still have work after May 29th, but we will NOT accept any Late or Missing
Work after MAY 29th. ****

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

All Lord of the Flies work (revisions and make ups) should have been turned
in today.
All other make ups and/or revisions (not pertaining to Lord of the Flies)are
due no later than Thursday, April 19th.

February 24, 2012

We sent a printout of missing work and your current grade home on Thursday.
Be sure to check it over. Revisions are due on Monday, Feb. 27th.
Extra Credit is available -- check out the FreeMac Calendar pages for this
week under the Extra Credit tab. Extra Credit is due on Tuesday, Feb. 28th.

February 9, 2012

We sent home a print out of grades and missing assignments earlier this week.
Be sure to check it out. Missing or revisions are due NO LATER than February
27th for credit. Be sure to check in with Mrs. Macdonald and/or Mrs. Freeman
to clarify what you need to turn in.

Today starts a new trimester! One of the best snippets I can give to you if
you are dissatisfied with your grade it to track your grades as you turn in
and get your papers back. Create some kind of log for each assignment and the
grade you receive as you get the papers back. This will let you know what
items you might be missing, as well as a "ballpark figure" on your grade.

Come by during Office Hours (most days at lunch in our classroom) and check
in with the teachers to see how you are doing and what you can do to bring up
your grade. While it's too late to raise your grade for 1st trimester, you
still have 2 trimesters left in 8th grade -- make the most of your time here
to get the best grades you can. Take advantage of Extra Credit when it's
offered too.

Please stop by during Office Hours to periodically find a quiet place to work
and to check in with us (and your grade).

Just a reminder! Any redo or "late" work is due by Wednesday, November 2nd.
No Exceptions!

You may redo / rewrite your weekly writing assignments and your weekly AOW
for a better grade. Be sure to staple your redone writing to your graded
work. For AOW, you will need to use a new color pen for your annotations, and
be sure to include the new color in a "key" on the AOW so we will know the
new thinking you are adding to the AOW.

The tabs to your left will help direct you to pages that you will want to
access throughout the school year. One of the most important tabs is our
FREEMAC CALENDAR PAGE. This is where you can access our Daily Agenda and
Homework assignments. These pages are updated daily.

Our Daily Agenda will be updated on the FreeMacCalendar page -- just click on
"Agenda" and you can see what we covered each day.

Homework will be posted on the FreeMacCalendar page as well just click on
"Homework" and you can see what is due.

Printouts/handouts can be found under our Nuts & Bolts tab. THE
PERMISSION FORM FOR OUR CLASSROOM LIBRARY CAN BE FOUND UNDER THIS TAB -- YOU
WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO OUR CLASSROOM LIBRARY UNTIL THIS SLIP IS TURNED IN.

We have posted our Job Share calendar under the Nuts & Bolts tab so you
can know ahead of time which one of us will be in the classroom.

We look forward to a year of growth and learning.

Thank you,

Mrs. Monica Freeman
Mrs. Dina Macdonald
