PARENT REMINDER
The Family Reading Time schedule is 7:45 am to 8:00 am for the morning classes and 12:00 pm to 12:15 pm for the afternoon classes. This activity is meant to take place before your child's classroom door opens for drop off. Sitting down with your preschooler to read should not take place if you are late to school. Please plan ahead and come early to enjoy reading together, also the books in the cart are not to take home. These books belong to your child's classroom.
FINALLY...SMALL T-SHIRTS AVAILABLE
We have received our order for the most requested size OVP T-shirt . We now have the youth size Small available in the front office for $10.00. Proceeds go to the Donation account used to pay for school events and field trips for your children.
UPCOMING PARENT EDUCATION
It is important to identify and prevent attention and behavioral problems at an early age to improve your child’s ability to perform well in school. A parenting skills class by CUIDAR will be provided for parents interested in this topic. More information to follow.
EVEN START
In October, Even Start families took a field trip to the Scholastic Warehouse. Children had fun exploring the warehouse and choosing books to take home. One of the many benefits of Even Start is receiving quality parent education. This month, Even Start parents are participating in a 5-session parent education workshop series on “Guiding Children’s Behavior,” presented by Teresa Landeros, parenting consultant. Parents feel they are receiving excellent ideas on positive discipline techniques. If you are interested in joining Even Start and have the desire to take ESL/GED classes, please stop by the Even Start office.
STAYING HEALTHY
It is important for children to practice illness prevention to maintain a healthy life in order to reach their fullest potential. To prevent children from missing days at school due to sickness you can teach your child good hygiene strategies.
Teach children to use a tissue to wipe their nose and cover their mouth when they sneeze or cough. Suggestions for staying healthy:
· Get enough sleep
· Hand washing
· Eat well
· Exercise regularly
· Avoid stress
· Know how illness is spread
