Welcome to 5th grade at Oakley School with Mrs. Cairns, Mrs. Cobarruviaz, and
January has arrived! We hope you had a wonderful winter break with family
and friends. If you are reading this and we have not returned to school from
the holidays yet (we return to school on Monday, January 7th!!!!!), you still
have today and this weekend to take care of all those pesky appointments so
that students are not missing school time. How lucky are we that we have
time to do these things?
Just a reminder, recently we started a program called Math A Minute which
focuses on students
reviewing their basic math facts on a daily basis. Each morning we begin our
day with a one minute timed test. This is literally happening as we walk
through the classroom door so it is IMPORTANT that each student arrives to
school on time EVERY day.
We appreciate you taking the time to get your student out the door each day,
prepared for school, well rested, and with a nutritious breakfast. If you
need any tips on making sure your student is on time, feel free to ask. We
have great advice on that topic :-)
Please remember that even though our official conferences
are complete, communication between home and school remains important for
students' learning. Students continue to have planners that need to be
checked daily and signed by parents or caregivers. Please e-mail your
teacher with questions, concerns,
etc., at any time.
The "About the Teacher" tab will lead you to each of our 5th grade teachers'
e-mail addresses so that you can contact your student's teacher as needed.
