Heritage Music and Art Festival Orange County 2012, bluegrass, folk, and Americana -
Heritage Museum of Orange County is proud to announce their first Music & Art Festival Art Competition!  All students between first grade through twelfth grade throughout Orange County are welcome to participate.  The theme for artwork is around Orange County’s history and heritage. The Orange County Registrar of Voters invites all Orange County residents to enter the 2012 Spirit of Democracy Art Competition. The competition is open to all Orange County residents, with winning entries exhibited at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art in Santa Ana. Click for application.

Ocean View School District at the Bowers Museum -

Ocean View School District students were able to attend the Bowers Warrior Exhibit this Fall.  This was made possible by a grant from the Bowers and the participation of Middle School Teachers in the Bowers Ancient Egypt Seminar Summer 2010. Our appreciation to Diane Cho, Noel Clancy, Megan Cornelsen, Terry Coville, Robert Morrill and Lisa Nelson for attending the Seminar, preparing students for the visit and giving their time. We thank the Bowers Museum education director, Nancy Warzer Brady, and the funding organizations for making this rich educational experience possible.

Orange County Philharmonic presented Music and Movement Workshops for primary teachers this Fall.  The power of music for its intrinsic and instructional values.  Our thanks to Orange County Philharmonic and to our Ocean View Teachers for keeping the arts alive in the primary grades.
