Marching Patriots

Dear Marching Patriot Band & Colorguard:

We hope you’ve been having a great summer and are starting to look forward to
a great season with the Orange Glen Marching Band and Colorguard. The staff
and boosters have been working hard to get things ready for a FUN season.

We will meet in the Performing Arts Center (Music Room) located just opposite
the Gym and up from the student parking lot on the North Side of the campus.
It is required all Band and Colorguard students attend this important Camp as
we prepare ourselves for the year. If you plan on being in one of these
groups this year but cannot attend, please contact Mr. Johnson at 291-5085 or
jmjohnson@euhsd.k12.ca.us.

We will be fitting everyone for uniforms, shoes & gloves before, during and
after. We also need parent volunteers during Band Camp to assist with all
these activities. Please contact Boosters for info.

Just a word about the Contributions and Donations. At Orange Glen, we are
committed to providing the finest opportunities for musical and personal
growth possible. We wish this was possible within the budget allocated by the
school district, but it is not. We, like all other schools, must supplement
our budget with outside funds. These include company and individual sponsors,
and fundraising by students and parents. In order to cover our expenses, we
have determined that we would like each student to contribute or donate
$150.00.

This money is used to supplement the necessary elements of the program that
are not District funded, they pay for our outside instructors, music and show
design, competition entry fees, truck rentals, uniform cleaning, etc. Every
cent of your contribution is spent directly on the needs of our students and
all monetary contributions are Tax Deductible. Please make your checks out to
Orange Glen High School Music Boosters. Written receipts will be provided for
every contribution made to the OG Music Boosters.

If you are concerned about the Contributions and/or Donation, please call
December Noble to discuss the many opportunities and projects we have
scheduled.

One item that the Marching Band and Colorguard students will have to purchase
will be their marching shoes. If you have your shoes from last year and they
still fit, they should be re-used (the style remains the same!). Marching
shoes are $25 and will need to be paid for during Day 1 at Band Camp. All
students will get fitted for shoes on Day 1 with shoes ordered during Band
Camp.

One great way to “fundraise” is to participate in the SCRIP Program. SCRIP is
like a gift card available from many merchants. You purchase SCRIP from the
Boosters, the merchant charges us full price minus their contribution (ranges
from 2% to 15%). The difference is what the Boosters “keep” as their
fund-raised amount A list of participating merchants for the Scrip program
will be included in the August Music Booster newsletter.

The SCRIP Program also offers an electronic version that automatically
provides the fundraising benefits. The information and sign up forms are
located at www.escrip.com and our ID# is 137682149.
