FAQ

1: WHAT IS THE EASIEST THING I CAN DO TO ENSURE THAT MY CHILD SUCCEEDS AT
   SCHOOL?

A: Are you ready? Severely restrict (or, better yet, completely eliminate!)
all TV and video game playing in your household for the entire school
year. I cant emphasize this point enough! One parent told me he couldn't
believe how much his children's grades shot up after he literally threw
away all TVs and video games in his house! Unmonitored, such
entertainment is "deadly" to you child's education.

2: WHAT IS THE SECOND EASIEST THING I CAN DO TO ENSURE MY CHILD SUCCEEDS AT
   SCHOOL?

A. Easy! Simply make sure your child promptly completes all homework
assignments and studies for all tests. The main reason kids fail school
is, not because they aren't intelligent enough to pass, but because they
   are usually lazy and irresponsible.

3: HOW OFTEN DO YOU ASSIGN HOMEWORK AND HOW CAN I MONITOR MY CHILD'S
   ASSIGNMENTS?

A. I assign homework 3-5 days a week, which, with rare exceptions, is due
in packet form "all at once" on the day of the test. Therefore it is
imperative that you keep your child on task on a daily basis so they
don't fall behind and wait until the last night before the test to do all
   their assignments!

THERE ARE FIVE WAYS YOU CAN MONITOR THEIR H.W. ASSIGNMENTS:

A.Have your child record them daily in their agenda planner. (Every student
receives an Orangeview Agenda Planner at the beginning of the year for
this purpose.) Upon request, I can sign your child's planner every day
  to verify their recordings.

B.Check my website for a current list of all assignments (more about
  this later).

C. Read all "Homework Update Letters," which all students receive with
their test study guides a few days before every test -- for a total of
eight throughout the year. The letters state what assignments are
due and any extra credit that is available, and they must be signed by
you and returned to me on the day of the test.

D. If you are web-connected, regularly check your Email because I will Email
the identical homework update letters mentioned above to you the same day
students receive their hard copy in class

E. Finally, if your child has a D or F in my class, I will contact you by
phone a few days before each test to make sure you receive these update
letters and are aware of the upcoming test.

4: HOW CAN I MONITOR MY CHILD'S PROGRESS IN YOUR CLASS? (THERE ARE 6 WAYS)

A. (The best) Visit my website for your child's current grade and
    assignments.

B. Request weekly progress reports be sent home with your child (if you
   don't have Internet service).

C. Have me record your child's current grade in their agenda planner.

D. Read all progress reports, which all students receive after each test
(about every 4-6 weeks). These must be signed by you and returned to me
  the next day.

E. Email or call me!

F. In addition, the school mails home report cards every quarter.

5: WHAT IS YOUR WEB ADDRESS AND WHAT INFORMATIONN WILL I FIND THERE?

MY WEBSITE IS: www.donewing.com IT HAS LINKS TO:

A. Student grades

B. Current homework assignments, including printable in-class handouts
students receive. Plus you can view all power point presentations shown
in
   class.

E. A copy of this curriculum letter

F. Orangeview's school website

6: WHAT ARE YOUR CLASS RULES AND WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES FOR BREAKING
   THOSE RULES?

CLASS RULES: All students must:

A. Be in their seat when the bell rings.

B. Raise their hand to speak.

C. Not leave their seat without permission.

D. Do no personal grooming or otherwise be disruptive or disrespectful.

IN ADDITION, ALL STUDENTS MUST LEARN THE "First Rule of Holes!

CONSEQUENCES:

A. First two infractions = warning

B. Third infraction = 20 minute detention (unwritten)

C. Failure to serve 20 minute detention = 40 minute unwritten detention

D. Failure to serve 40 minute detention = written 45 minute detention

E. Failure to serve written detention = Parent contact + referral to
principal + 4 hours of Saturday School

IMPORTANT! I reserve the right to refer any excessively disruptive or
disrespectful student to the office as I deem necessary, without
           warning!

7. WHAT IS THIS "FIRST RULE OF HOLES" YOU MENTIONED?

SHORT ANSWER: "STOP DIGGING!"

simply serve it promptly and therefore avoid digging themselves a "hole"
all the way to Saturday School!

penalty, for every day they are absent.
