Time to pack your bags for the trip of a lifetime - an imagined “trip” to the country you selected for your travelogue project.

What is a travelogue?
A travelogue is a personal narrative - journal style - of a ten day trip to your country. In this narrative, you should include how you get there and how you travel while you’re in the country, detailed descriptions of what there is to see and do there, what you eat, where you stay, and how much it costs, as well as all the interesting information you discover about your country.
What is the purpose of this travelogue assignment?
The academic purpose of the travelogue is to give you experience in putting together a research paper before you move on to junior high school. But because what you learn about your country is written in travelogue style, it gives you the opportunity to use your imagination and be creative. The travelogue also allows you to read, research, study, and think about one country in depth until you are the EXPERT on that country.
You are not simply “traveling” to your country to hang out with friends and sleep in a hotel - you are “going there” to learn all about the country. Your travelogue should reflect what you have learned about the land, history, life, and people of your country.

What will I need to have in my finished project?
A finished project will include these components:
- A hand-drawn map of your country, showing the places you will visit and which days you will be in each place
- An introduction (1/2 -1 page)
- A section for each of your 10 days in your country ( usually these run about 2 pages per day)
- At least 5 pictures with captions of significant things or places you have written about in your narrative
- A conclusion (1/2 - 1 page)
- A bibliography that includes all the sources from which you got information. You must have at least
FIVE SOURCES WHICH INCLUDE:
- THREE WEB SITES
- ONE BOOK
- ONE ENCYCLOPEDIA (may be on CD-rom, but you may not use Wikipedia)
- Repeat - you may not use Wikipedia because it is not a reliable source.
You may use additional sources as well. These may include magazines, newspapers, videos, interviews with people who have visited or lived in the country, and other materials.
*This bibliography must be put together in a very specific way, which we will learn in class.
