Reading
Students were asked to bring a copy of Dragonwings--it's 14 points--to read as a class. I asked those students who can to bring $5, and I will purchase the book at my discount price.
High School Entrance
I will help prepare students for the high school entrance exams afterschool on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays until the end of January.
If your child will be taking a high school entrance exam, please be sure to register him or her prior to the test. The Test for most Catholic high schools in the area take place on the last Saturday of January. If your child will be attending a public school, now is the time to begin checking into an inter-district transfer if he or she will need one.
If you have any high school recommendation forms that I need to fill out, please be sure to include your child's name on the form as it is easy to lose track of who submitted the papers.
Academic Decathlon
The Academic Decathlon team is now being determined. Students will be chosen based on grades, ITBS test scores, conduct, work ethic, dedication, and individual subject test
Thanksgiving Food Drive and Lunch
Thank you to all who contributed and participated in this event. Your response was incredible. The Thanksgiving lunch was a great success on many levels although we didn't get the turn out we had hoped for. As you may know, this was our first-ever attempt at this kind of outreach and now, because the your giving spirit, we know that our ministry to the community can grow tremendously. Thank you so much.
8th Grade Field Trip
I have been looking online for lodging for our class trip to Zion National Park. I have not found anything ideal but if you can help in this, please let me know. Some parents have been giving feedback on possible fundraisers for our trip, probably around early May. The Museum of Tolerance is also in the picture and I am waiting for a reply to set the date.
