Art drawers are supplied in class.</FONT></P> <P align=left><FONT face="Comic Sans MS"></FONT></P> <P align=left><FONT color=#ff0000><STRONG><EM>A second set of art supplies should be kept at home for homework use. </EM><EM>Please <U>NO</U> oversized or suitcase-like backpacks (class space is limited).</EM></STRONG></FONT></P> <P><FONT color=#0000ff>The novel <EM><U>The Doll People</U> </EM>by Ann M. Martin & Laura Godwin is mandatory summer reading. Students should be ready to discuss the book in class upon our return to school. They will be required to take a computer test for book points during the first two weeks of class. For anyone wanting to get a headstart on reading points, <EM><U>The Meanest Doll in the World</U></EM> (sequel to <U><EM>The Doll People</EM></U>) is a fun story and worth 9 points! We will also be reading <U><EM>Because of Winn Dixie</EM></U> by Kate DeCamillo starting the first week of school. F.Y.I.- students will not be allowed to test on any book below a fourth grade level. </FONT></P> <P><FONT color=#0000ff><EM>Additional mandatory books for the school year:</EM> <EM><U>Island of the Blue Dolphins</U></EM> by Scott O'Dell and <U><EM>By The Great Horn Spoon</EM></U> by Sid Fleischman. We will be reading some novels in addition to our regular reading program. Class sets will be used and students do not need to purchase these books unless they want their own individual copy.
