The 5th grade teachers would like to welcome you to our website.
Mrs. Nakagawa will be teaching reading, grammar, spelling, and technology.
Mr. Bedley will be teaching history, science, and core writing.
Ms. Click will be teaching math, grammar, health, and physical education.
Ms. DeFrank will be teaching a Science on Mondays(Mrs, Nakagawa's Class),
Wednesdays(Mr. Bedley and Ms. Click), and Friday(All Classes).
Music is every Tuesday and Friday with Mr. Ghiassi, Ms. Turrell, and Ms.
Maruko.
Mrs. Nagatomi is our wonderful librarian.
We feel fortunate to have many additional teachers assisting in our
classrooms this year: Mrs. Ganser and Mrs.
Murtough.

We look forward to working with you and your child this year. You will find
fifth grade to be both exciting and challenging. Since the major goal of
education is to prepare children with the skills necessary to lead them to
happy and successful lives, we take our roles quite seriously. We will be
encouraging the children to stretch themselves intellectually, physically,
emotionally, and socially. They will be given a larger degree of freedom,
which is accompanied by more responsibilities. We want the children to leave
fifth grade with a good foundation of information and the ability to think
for themselves. We also want to develop their creativity and self-confidence
so that they may use their skills in situations away from Plaza Vista. Our
goal is to create a positive atmosphere in our classrooms, to make it a place
where learning is fun for a community of learners who share a common goal…
becoming capable individuals who make their own imprint on the world around
them.
