About my class

There are some relatively constant aspects to my class. I try to send
home a progress report every week on Wednesdays. Students will earn their
grade through tests, presentations, maps, timelines, essays, and by
participating in classroom discussions. I enjoy teaching through a variety of
methods including: games, simulations, plays, videos, and reenactments. I
also believe it is important to learn historical facts and concepts. I am a
believer in the adage "You can't know where you are going until you
understand where you have been." As often as possible I try to relate history
to contemporary events.

Mission For The Class

Goals for the Year
This year I am looking for growth in a variety of areas. All students
will work to improve their organizational skills. They will also be involved
in a variety of art projects, simulations, cooperative learning situations,
and audio presentations. Students will also be involved in a variety of
authentic assessments of student learning. Students will save a collection of
their work in a portfolio.
Important to note Choice work is not optional work, it is a choice of
work. Student must do some Choice Work.
Students
Be prepared each day. You need to have a notebook, pencil, red pen, blue
or black pen, lined paper, at least three colored pencils, your organizer,
completed homework, and, most important, a good attitude toward learning; be
positive! I do not take typed work without a rough draft and teacher
permission
Bring in a separate 1” notebook for your portfolio. It will have 6 parts.
My Commitment
I want every child that leaves my classroom to be prepared for the
rigors of high school.
If problems occur email me, call me, or come on by and visit. I only
want the best for your son or daughter.
