About The Teacher

I am very excited to be your child's teacher this year! I have been teaching
3rd grade for my entire teaching profession (13 years) and hope I have become
somewhat of an expert in relating to children of this age.

I have opened Plaza Vista 11 years ago and began my teaching career with IUSD
at College Park Elementary. Prior to teaching, I worked in the corporate
world for companies like Johnson&Johnson, Abbott Laboratories, and AT&T. I
sold both pharmaceuticals and computer systems.

I graduated with a Bachelor's in Marketing from Cal State Northridge and six
years later, earned my teaching credential at Concordia University in Irvine.
A few years later, I earned my Master's Degree in Educational Technology
Leadership at University California, Irvine.

On a personal note, both my parents were born and raised in Japan. Then my
father came to California in High School. My mother came to California
after she married my father. Being from another country, they both had
difficulty trying to learn how to speak English so I completely understand
and have compassion for those families that speak more than one language at
home.

Finally, I have 3 other siblings and I am the third of 4 children. I also
have 5 beautiful nieces that I adoooorrrre!!!! My hobbies and interests
(other than teaching) include rollerblading, working out at the gym, hiking,
camping, yoga, travel, and reading.

3rd Grade Philosophy

My goal for all students is to develop a positive attitude toward themselves,
school, community, and life-long learning. I also want students to develop a
greater curiosity for their world around them and a desire to learn more
about it. Our classroom will offer a well-structured, warm environment that
provides for individual needs, challenges, and growth. Students will be
taught responsibility, respect, independent thinking, and problem solving
skills. Academic risk-taking will also be encouraged. It is with my best
intention to have developed a program that will use a variety of strategies
and techniques to allow each student to reach his/her potential.
