always need help setting up, run
registers, help students find books and clean-up.

General Mills® - Box Tops for Education: Earn cash for our school by clipping Box Tops from products and depositing them in the "Soup Can" at the front office. For a list of products and details visit BoxTops4Education. We will need volunteers throughout the year to help collect and cut box tops. A great "at home" activity.
Carnival: The annual carnival is one of the most exciting events for the whole family to participate. It is usually held in late May. There are many game booths, Bounce houses, Food booths, interesting raffle items, cool prizes and much more to enjoy. We will need a team of volunteers to help advertise, get donations for raffle prizes, coordinate food booths, purchase prizes and organize parent volunteers on this great event.  Last year's contact information for each committee is listed below.

D.A.R.E.®Graduation: Define, Assess, Respond and Evaluate. A program offered by the Irvine Police Department empowering our fifth graders "To Resist Drugs And Violence". www.dare.com
Guys Stuff: An informative presentation for fifth grade boys and their fathers or a male relative about puberty and how they change physically and emotionally when they grow up. It is usually on an evening in January. Refreshments will be served.   We will need volunteers to help with invitations, food, booking a speaker, and decorations. We will also need 4th and 5th grade parents to help serve.
Jog-A-Thon: Jogathon is a running/walking marathon/ fundraiser which holds on late February or early March every year usually on a Friday in the playground area behind the school. The purpose of this activity other than supporting our school is to treat our children to a healthy group activity full of fun. Come help get information to students, get donations for prizes and put together supplies for the day of the event. We will also need parent volunteers for set-up, counting pledges and counting donations.
Fifth Grade Mother/Daughter Tea: An evening for fifth grade girls with their mothers or a female relative featuring a presentation about puberty and the physical and emotional changes it will bring. It is usually on an evening in January. Refreshments will be served. We will need volunteers to help with invitations, food, booking a speaker, and decorations. We will also need 4th and 5th grade parents to help serve.
Meet the Masters: An art program for elementary school that not only teaches the students to create beautiful art work but also educates them about different kinds of artwork, the artists and their work. Volunteers are needed for cutting papers, and prearing material for students to do the artwork or help with a the art teacher in the classroom.
Movie/Family Night & Bingo: The entire family enjoys a movie on wide screen, a show on stage or a game of Bingo. Winners will receive prizes and there will be raffle items. Volunteers are needed to get donations for raffle prizes, make flyers or banners, sell refreshments, organize Bingo or organize the movie. Sell tickets depending on the show.
Membership/Directory: School directory is a notebook that includes students and teachers contact info to keep families connected. Volunteers are needed for data entry, putting the pages together and binding them.

Popsicles: This is a great fundraiser we do throughout the year. We sell Popsicles the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of every month at the front and back of the school. Popsicle punch cards in $10 and $20 denominations are available for purchase and include 1 free Popscicle for every 10 punches. We need volunteers to help sell Popsicles. You can help out every time, or on a monthly basis. Fun and Easy!
Scrip: Purchase gift cards and prepaid cash cards for a wide variety of retailers. You redeem the card's full face value, and Plaza Vista earns up to 15% from Great Lakes Scrip Center. Visit GLSC for participating retailers and details.
Spirit Wear: Every year, the PTA sells Plaza Vista Spirit wear. We need help distributing fliers to classrooms, helping with the "try-it-on" booths, and distributing the clothing upon its arrival.
Staff Appreciation Week: A week of special treatment for our wonderful staff and teachers to appreciate their hard work. Volunteers needed to plan the activities of the week, make flyers, prepare breakfast and a luncheon for staff.
Red Ribbon Week: We need volunteers to help promote activities, distribute fliers and decorate the school for our drug awareness program.
Reflection: This National PTA program that offers kids the opportunity to create works of art in 4 areas: literature, musical composition, photography and visual arts. View Reflections flyer. Also more information can be found on www.ptareflections.org. The chairperson will distribute fliers, hang posters, and submit forms.  Volunteer to help!
Tanaka Farms: Subscriptions for boxes of fresh, local, organic produce delivered from Tanaka Farms to your door are available throughout the year. Tanaka Farms would donate $5 per box to Plaza Vista.
