What supplies will help my child be successful this year?
crayons - box of 24 -
markers (washable)- broad tip and fine tip
colored pencils
pencils and erasers
sturdy pocket folder for homework (bottom pockets work best)
glue sticks
scissors
What will my child need on the first day of school?
While I will have a few supplies on hand, it would be greatly
appreciated if your child brings their supplies on the first day of
school. A recess snack is also a good idea. We don't break for
lunch until 12:30 which makes quite a gap between breakfast and lunch!
What are after school pick up procedures?
Students will be walked out, as a class, to the parking lot.
There is no need for you to park your car. Simply wait in line and
your child can get into the car when you near our pick up spot. ALL
CHILDREN MUST TELL ME WHO THEY ARE LEAVING WITH (and I need to 'see'
that person) BEFORE I WILL ALLOW THEM TO LEAVE THE GROUP. Please
help me instill this into your child for their safety!
Can't I just pick my child up at the classroom door?
No. My concern is for the safety of my students. It is much
safer for the group to walk out together and then dismiss from one
specific location. PLEASE RESPECT THIS POLICY. It is in the best
interest of the children!
If my child is ill, how do I get his or her make up work?
If your child is too ill to come to school, he or she is too ill
to put 100% into their work. I would much rather they concentrate
their energy on getting better and returning to school.
What are the school hours?
Class begins at 8:15 and students are dismissed at 2:35--EXCEPT
on Thursday, when dismissal is 1:35. Children are allowed to play
on the playground from 8:00 until the bell rings.
So much paperwork comes home. What stays home and what goes back?
Student work that has been seen and checked off will have an "OK" or "Keep
Home" at the top of the page. These are FINISHED papers, and I don't need to
have them back. If there is not an "OK" or "Keep Home" on the paper, then
there are corrections that need to be made (for homework) and it should be
returned to school as soon as possible. When scored tests come home,
you can decide whether to send it back with corrections or not. As
far as flyers go, we seem to get quite a bit of "stuff". Please look
through these items carefully because there can be important school
information mixed in with community activity flyers.
To celebrate a birthday, can treats be sent in?
Yes, treats that are NOT edible can be brought in for special occasions.
