Well, the year is winding down and we are preparing to get report cards
done. Keep up the reading with your child nightly.

Open House is this Thursday May 21st at 6:00p.m. - I hope you can come by
for a bit to take a look at your child's work. It wont be too long. Feel
free to stop by between 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Also, THANKS SO MUCH for appreciating me this week....you really don't need
to shower me with love and gifts, but THANK YOU from my heart!

I have heard the math online HW sometimes doesn't show up....sometimes the
program freezes up or acts weird - they are working out the quirks...be
patient. Check again tonight - if it's not there oh well, things happen.
Thanks for understanding! Technology these days, huh!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day. My grandpa came in last night (a leprechaun from
Ireland) and left a little trail leading to a pot of gold. He left us a
voicemail too. It was neat.

at 1:35p.m. Please do your best to be on time for our meeting. :-)

Happy Bday to Dr. Seuss today. We spent the morning reading to buddies from
our Favorite Dr. Seuss books. No Math homework tonight. The online HW will
begin Tuesday 3/3. Good Luck :-)

I have sent home instructions about playing online with our new math
piloting program. Their username is their name and number in class, and the
password is ducks and then their number in class. Just let them explore the
videos until I send home another note. We will be starting our home quizzes
on Monday March 2. For now, just let them check it out.

Hope everyone is rested from the Holiday weekend. Keep up the great work
with Homework and reading at home. I am SO proud of ALL my Duckies! It is
AMAZING how much they are growing and learning this year.

Remember we have a 4 day weekend in honor of our Presidents. Enjoy the
break - I have sent home a two week reading schedule so you can have your
duckie on track. Also, this month will begin the new "award system" where
your student has the opportunity to earn academic and/or behavior (or both
of course). Encourage them to work hard for me...in all areas.

Reminder about Vday - We will not be bringing or exchanging vday
cards/things from home. As a grade level, we decided to do something in
class so EVERYONE can have the opportunity to participate. Thank you for
understanding.
Also, report cards will go home next week I believe. We will meet in march
to conference for the Spring. There we can discuss any questions you may
have.

Next week we are only here three days (oh, darn - haha) so make sure your
child is still reading and staying on track. I will send home a note of what
stories to read on which day.
Reminder: Please refrain from buying Valentines for the class until we
discuss what our plans are as a staff. Thank you for understanding and
saving yourself a few bucks in case we make a decision to hold off this
year. I will let you know what we all discussed in the next week or so.

Welcome Back to the second half of the year. We are gearing up for report
cards (only a few more weeks). We have a couple holidays coming up - Make

Reminder: Please do not let your child read ahead in the storybook over
break. They can surely read BACKWARDS, but they are not to read the next
story until Sunday night 11/30.

Halloween is almost here. I am sure you know how excited the kids are!
Please make sure to bring them to school Friday with a change of clothes for
after the harvest parade.
This week is RED RIBBON WEEK - making healthy choices.
Monday - wear Red
Tuseday - Shades
Wednesday - fun socks
Thursday - Bright clothes
I cannot use CLOROX wipes any longer in class, but CAN use baby
wipes - I would LOVE some baby wipes if anyone has any to spare...I
am very SERIOUS about a clean and healthy room! :-)

Happy October already! Can you believe it?!
FYI - Lancer Day was re-scheduled to NEXT FRIDAY the 10th. Please spread the
word in case anyone thinks it is this week. I say this b/c Lancer Day is
minimum day and I would hate for someone to have the wrong date.

Reminder: Jog-a-thon is THIS THURSDAY Oct. 2nd. Remember to send your
duckies to school in tennis shoes and sunscreen (it will probably be warm
that day). Also if you send them with a water bottle please write their name
on it.
We have plenty of volunteers (THANKS!) and if you need any information
contact me and I will direct you to the mom in charge!
ALSO - THERE ARE LOTS OF MINIMUM DAYS IN OCTOBER PLEASE LOOK AT THE CALENDAR

Secret Share is going really well! Remember I am looking for the "sound" not
necessarily the letter....these first few weeks are the SHORT vowel sounds.
(HINT: the LONG vowel sound says it's own name).
examples:
SHORT VOWEL e = pet
LONG VOWEL e = Eagle
Keep up the reading and make sure you are marking down the minutes on your
reading log. Those are due next week.
ALSO - Jog-a-thon is next week - someone should be contacting you shortly if
you signed up.

REMINDER:
Please have your child only do one part of spelling a night. The schedule of
what to do on which day is glued to the back of the front cover. Only Home
section is what your child should be working on unless they have "fix-its."
Please Return daily.

This will be the first week of Homework! YAY!!
I am sending home a reminder about homework. Any questions, please email me.
Homework consists of:
Math page
Spelling
Reading
Fix-its
***Your child will come home with papers from the day with either a KEEP
HOME stamp or "fix" on the paper. Keep home means please leave it at home.
If it says Fix, please have your child fix the mistake and return the next
day to turn into the Homework basket.

about how organized I am and I did not include the poster sharing schedule
in the packet! HAHA! I will print out a copy and send it home with your
child.

Can you believe how fast time is going by! Tomorrow is already Friday..YAY.
Please make sure you sign the planner EACH NIGHT. Also, have your child
reading nightly until we begin our reading program. This should get them
back into "school mode."
Some of our duckies are not sure whether they bring lunch or buy lunch.
Things have been a little confusing so make sure they know what to do.
Also, I will be explaining EVERYTHING next Thursday at back to school nite.
There you will find out what your child needs, and what to bring to school
daily, etc. Until then we are just getting used to becoming "big kids!"
