Team Pomelo PTA

Dear Pomelo Parents,

This is the time of year when we begin to fill positions for next year's Pomelo PTA (TEAM   Pomelo). Officially, all positions become open and are re-slated each year. THere are big jobs as well as smaller ones. There are osts of opportunities for all you hard working moms and dads including plent of jobs that can be done on a one time only basis and and some that can be done right from home. A complete list of positions is attached.

TEAM Pomeol is an important component for the success of our children. We work hard with the caculty, a district, and community to achieve excellence at Pomelo. TEAM Pomelo holds monthly meetings at the school to discuss school updates from our principal, vote on operating policies, fund expenses, and all events for our school. Everyone is always welcome!

Completing the attached from will ensure the continued success of the programs and activities which benefit your children. Please circle any of the committees you are interested in being part of and return it to your child's teacher as soon as possible.

Volunteer Committees

·         Bake Sale: Coordinate donations and sale of baked goods at various school functions.

·         Banking: Work  ”teller line” once a week at Pomelo during recess for Washington Mutual’s School Savings program.

·         Book Fair: Coordinate spring and fall book fair.

·         Boutique: Help with annual boutique.

·         Box Tops: Collect, count and bundle box tops from classrooms. 

·         Carnival: Coordinate events, attractions and booths for Spring Carnival.

·         Casino Night:   Plan “adult only” fall fundraiser.

·         Community Outreach: Coordination of one or more of the following:

 1) Community Service; 2) Lost & Found; 3) Recycling; 4) School Beautification.

·         Directory: Compilation of Pomelo directory at the beginning of the school year.

·         Entertainment Books:   Prepare Entertainment book sales and distribute to classrooms.

·         Father/Daughter: Coordinate annual event.

·         Garden: Assist in maintaining Pomelo’s garden.

·         Halloween Grams: Coordinate selling of Halloween Grams.

·         Holiday Sharing: Help solicit, assemble and arrange for delivery of donated food items and toys for families in need.  This is generally done once during the Holiday season.

·         Ice Cream Sales: Sell ice cream after school. One person needed each day. A coordinator is also needed to order ice cream and keep freezer stocked.

·         Innisbrook:   Organize gift wrap fundraiser in fall and online school supply orders at year end.

·         Kindergarten Liaison: Communicates Pomelo activities and business to Kindergarten families.                                   

·         Library: Assist school librarian.

·         Magnet Artwork: Coordinate annual magnet artwork project.

·         Mother/Son Event: Coordinate annual event.

·         P.E. Coaches: Assists P.E. coordinator with exercise activities for the kids.

·         Panther Traffic Deputies: Organize volunteers to assist with traffic control at drop off and pick up time. Each classroom is responsible for 1 week during the school year.

·         Parent Center: Coordinate activities within parent center.

·         Posters and Art Work: Draw posters and banners for various school events.

·         Restaurant Night: Coordinate with local restaurants to hold restaurant night fundraisers.            

·         Retail Participation: Coordinate retail rewards programs.

·         School Spirit: Work with student council in organizing activities to boost Pomelo spirit.

·         Silent Auction:   Collect classroom baskets and prepare for Casino Night & Open House.

·         Spirit Cart: Coordinate ordering and sales of Pomelo spirit items such as clothing and school supplies. Items sold at various school functions and once a week after school.

·         Thoughts for Thursday: Coordinates weekly newsletter.

·         Valentine Grams: Coordinate selling of Valentine Grams.

·         Wonder of Reading: Volunteer as few or as many hours a week to tutor a child one-on-one.

·         Yearbook: Compile and produce yearbook and coordinate end of the year sales and distribution. Also, assists on picture day in the fall and spring.

 

Board Positions

·         President:  Oversee all activities of Team Pomelo/PTA.  Presides over monthly meetings. 

This can be a shared position.

·         Vice President:  Assists the President. 

·         Treasurer:  Oversees all financial aspects of Team Pomelo/PTA.  Budget, Payroll, Accounts Payable and Tax Reporting.  (An accounting Background is required)

·         Financial Secretary:  Collects, records and deposits all accounts receivable for Team Pomelo/PTA. 

·         Recording Secretary:  Takes and distributes minutes at Team Pomelo/PTA Meetings. Maintains related record keeping.

·         Corresponding Secretary/Sunshine Committee:  Oversees all written correspondence from Team Pomelo/PTA.  Coordinates assistance for Pomelo families in need.

·         Hospitality: Hosts Welcome Back Breakfast for staff, Founders Day and Staff Appreciation luncheons and provides refreshments for special guests.

·         Historian:  Takes Citizen of the Month pictures.  Maintains bulletin boards in lobby and auditorium. Keeps track of Pomelo students and staffs that have received special recognition.

·         Membership:  Oversees the annual Team Pomelo/PTA memberships drive. 

·         Parliamentarian:  Ensures that Roberts Rules of Order are followed at all Team Pomelo/PTA meetings.  

·         PTA Representative:   Attends district wide meetings as spoke person and rep for Team Pomelo/PTA. 

·         Volunteer Coordinator: Manages volunteer information for Team Pomelo/PTA. 

·         Sponsorship:  Oversees Business and Private Pomelo Sponsorships Donations.   

·         Room Rep. Coordinator:  Oversees and provides guidance to the individual Room Reps.
