POMELO READERS ARE LEADERS
This is our student home reading program. During the school day, all
students participate in a daily-sustained silent reading period for 15
minutes. In addition to this program, is the Pomelo Readers are Leaders
program which began as part of the Governors Reading Award Program. Each
month every student receives a monthly reading record. Each primary student
is required to read at least 500 pages. Upper grade students are required to
read 340 pages. Remember, the amount of time children spend reading silently
in school and at home is directly associated with year-to-year gains in
reading achievement starting with beginning readers.
