What's the difference between Pre-K & Junior Kindergarten

   In Pre-K children are INTRODUCED and begin to "fine 
tune" the skills for 
school.  In Junior Kindergarten children  "fine tune" 
and begin to MASTER 
the skills for school.  Junior K has a structured schedule Monday-
Friday from 
8:30 to 2:30pm with NO naps.  Pre-school has flexible schedule 
with your 
choice of days and time, and children take a nap.  The program is 
also ideal
for anyone seeking maximum learning opportunities for his or her 
pre-schooler.
 The curriculum provided for the children is designed to develop 
verbal
skills, reading, writing, mathematics, phonics, environment and 
science.
Children accepted into this program will be exposed to a well-
rounded
curriculum including Music, Art, Physical Education, Computers 
and Spanish.

How old do you need to be in Junior Kindergarten?

Junior Kindergarten children are usually 4 by September and are 
usually turning 5 betweeen the months of September to February.  
However, your preschool teacher, your director, and the Junior K 
teacher(s) will work with you to determing what is the best 
option is for your child.

Do you have computers in class?

Yes, we have computers in class for kids to learn math, reading, 
and writing 
through a variety of software.

Do you have field trips?

Yes.  Field trips are an important part of our curriculum in 
Junior K.  
Going to the Pumpkin Patch, Disney on Ice, plays, Baskin Robin, 
Discovery 
Museum and the zoo are some of the fun places we go to.

Do you wear uniforms?

No, we do not wear uniforms, but we do have dress code.

Do you have any enrichment activities?

We have Spanish, Music, and P.E. class once a week to enhance our 
student's 
learning.

What is Reading Buddies?

Each junior kindergarten student is paired with a second grade 
student for 
the school year. The students work together on a variety of 
activities 
including reading books, playing, field trips, and creating craft 
projects.  
The reading buddy program is beneficial to the students in both 
grades.
