About The Teacher
Hello! This will be my second year at Queen of All Saints. I am very excited for the school year and can't wait to teach your son or daughter. I received my Bachelor of Arts from Sonoma State University as a Hutchins Liberal Studies Major. I also took all my Multiple Subject Credential classes from Sonoma State. I was born in Concord and baptized at Queen of All Saints Church. I also attended Holy Rosary School for 8 years. Last year I worked at Holy Rosary as their Reading Specialist. I love to read, travel, swim, go to the beach, and do fun things with my family and friends. I am very excited to meet all my third graders and their families.

3rd Grade Curriculum 2008-2009 Math: Sadlier-Oxford Math book year 3 In third grade this year, we will be learning adding with re-grouping, subtracting with regrouping, multiplication and division up to our 9 facts. We will also be learning how to regroup with multiplication and divide with remainders. Along with these things, third graders will learn fractions, telling time, money, and place value up to the thousands place. Science: Scholastic News In third grade we will be learning energy, our solar system, and matter. Third graders will learn about plants, animals, and their environments. We will also be conducting simple experiments and investigations. Social Studies: Scholastic News In third grade this year, we will be learning about Olympics, Native, Americans, and Rules and Laws. We will also be learning about different heroes, settlers, and our family history. Third graders will also learn about maps and our economy. Religion: Blest Are We book year 3 Third graders will learn how the Holy Spirit guides us, the Sacrament of Initiation, and that the Church has a mission to the world. In third grade this year, we will also be learning about Feasts and Seasons that are celebrated in the Church and our Catholic heritage. Third graders will also be keeping a prayer journal throughout the year. Language Arts: Silver Burdett Ginn year 3 The reading series for third grade is three books. The books are Castles of Sand, Leaving Footprints, and On the Horizon. Some of the stories we will be reading are When I was Nine, A Day When Frogs Wear Shoes, The Kapok Tree, and The Keeping Quilt. Along with these stories and many more, we will be reading Charlotte’s Web as a class. Spelling: Houghton Mifflin Spelling and Vocabulary book year 3 In third grade this year we will be learning short and long vowels, vowel – consonant – e patterns, and three letter cluster words. Third graders will also learn unexpected consonant patterns, vowel + r sounds, and words with the j, k, and kw sounds. Along with these types of words, we will learn how to spell homophones, compound words, changing the y to I , prefixes, and suffixes. Phonics: Modern Curriculum Press book Level C This year in third grade we will be learning short and long vowels, compound words, blends, and r controlled vowels. Third graders will also learn contractions, plural endings, suffixes, and prefixes. We will also learn vowel pairs, such as ai, ay, ea, ie, oa, diphthongs (oi, oy, ou, aw, ow, ew), synonyms, and antonyms.
