            November 2, 2009                                                                                 

 Dear Parents,

        This is the November Newsletter for Channel 2!


   What's happening this month.

     Thank you to everyone who helped with and donated to our Halloween party.
  Everyone had a great day. Second Grade won many of the Halloween events.
  With only 3 weeks until Thanksgiving, we will be busy continuing with all of our
  subjects.

  READING- We will continue in our Literature Series and start our 2nd book report.
                       We will try to finish before the Thanksgiving break but if not it will be
                       done the first week back .

  SPELLING- Please see new list sent home this week and also on the Teacher-Web.

  PHONICS- Endings with  SH, TH, WH, CH, NK,NG,NT  to be used with our
                         Lesson 9 and 10 in our Spelling Book.

  SCIENCE- Our Science unit will be about Nutrition and the Fall Harvest.

  SOCIAL STUDIES- Scholastic News about turkeys, Pilgrims, and Native Americans

   WRITING- Our Class did a Halloween project with our 6th grade buddies in the
                     computer lab. They scary Halloween stories with many different fonts
                     background color and added Halloween designs Look for the story!!!

  RELIGION- Sister Faustina will be helping out the next few weeks. She will be
                      helping us with Reconciliation preparation for December. The
                      month of November is also a month to learn about Saints and the
                      blessed Thanksgiving season.
                        
    REMINDERS:
       If you took any picture at the Halloween event, please e-mail them to me.

     November 6th- Teacher Workshop-- No School
     November 9th- Veteran’s Day- No School
     November 23rd- Begins Thanksgiving Vacation
     November 30th- Back to School
   Plans are in the works for a walking field trip to the Farmer’s Market with
   3rd grade. This will tie into our Fall Harvest & Nutrition unit.
